Overview
--------
Often users will leave their PC on and themselves logged into the
machine.  Users who leave their machines on and remain logged in
can pose a security risk.  This document details a simple change
to password protect PCs that remain idle for a period of inactivity
of thirty minutes or more.  This will help prevent unauthorized
access to a user's PC, data and DePaul network.

Requirements
------------
You must be logged onto the system with administrator privileges.

Configuration
-------------
1. From the Windows desktop, click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel

2. Double click on the Display icon.

3. Click the Screen Saver tab in the Display Properties window.

4. In the Wait: text box, enter the number:

   30

5. Click the checkbox labeled "On resume, password protect" if the
   check box is empty.

6. Click the Apply button, then the OK button.

7. Close the Control Panel window.

Troubleshooting

Notes

A shorter period may be desirable, but 30 minutes is the recommended
minimum.  This value is a trade-off in security and usability.
